It's no secret I've been a huge Apple computer snob for the past few years. Together Rick and I own/have owned a slew of their products including a couple of iPods, iPhones, a few notebook computers, a keyboard, a couple of mice, Apple TV, etc. you get the idea - we love our Apple gadgets. I grew up using PC's and after purchasing what used to be my beloved black Apple MacBook 3 years ago (it was recently stolen from me), I swear I will never go back. I know, they say, "never say never." Hopefully one day I won't have to eat my words.
People always ask me why I'm now so adamant about using an Apple over a PC and no lie and I always have a laundry list of bad things to say about the PC, especially Microsoft in particular. I'm not going to go into the reasons now. I'm sure that would be very repetitive to some of my readers and I really don't think its healthy for me to engage in such negative rants all the time - at least that's what Rick keeps telling me.
Truth be told, I have to admit I haven't been super impressed with some the decisions Apple's made over the past year in regards to the way they've treated other members of the tech industry, namely Adobe and Google in addition to how they profit off all their apps. They have gotten a little "hot-headed" which I'm sure happens when you are supplying one of many current best products out there, but its not like there isn't room on the market for everyone at the moment.
Anyways, what made me think about all of this is how quickly things can change in regards to technology and its going to be interesting to see where things head over the next few years/decade. I believe many of these "tangible gaget" based organisations such as Intel and Nokia for example (which I've heard are running into financial problems) will face much change in production as cloud computing becomes more increasingly popular. Apple has pulled ahead of Microsoft because its products are more cloud computing friendly (the iPhone) and the Intell world is swiftly changing from what it used to be, but I have to say even though I still love my mac, most of what I do now is online and Google is really supplying me with a rad setup. Apple and Google are now main competitors in the Android sector - this makes me want to cry - I think they would make a great team. After all, I used my iPhone everyday and Gmail helps me keep my world organised and accessible.
I was reading an article in the Economist called The End of Wintel and found what it had to say quite interesting.
I'm a total Apple snob too, but I despise Microsoft less than I used to. It's hard to despise a company when you're single, female, and about 50% of the eligible bachelors you meet work there. :)
haha, that' hilarious. Yeah, you know what what? Microsoft actually pays their employees better from what I understand too. You actually get paid well no matter which one your working for, but I have heard Apple is one of the lower paying employers.
