It's so interesting being a in city where the transportation runs in tunnels that have been around since the 1800s. Truly the tube system in London is something to really think about. It gets you anywhere in London you need to go and without allowing you to get lost while your at it. I always get lost. I'm notorious for being horrible with directions and finding my way around. To be honest the thought of moving to London scared me purely for this reason alone. I was sure I would get lost every day being in such a large city. So far, so good, I haven't gotten lost once! Why? Because its impossible if you ride the tube.

Each station is something to wonder about as well. Not one is the same as another. Some are horribly old and need work. Others are like brand spanking new and they have art work that is just incredible! The other day Rick and I were in one station that had been restored to look like something artsy and modern but industrial. It was super cool. Rick really liked the architecture. I'm sure we'll see more restoration and added art pieces as the Olympics draw nearer.

But what I find most interesting about the tube, are the "Tube of False" ads the government has more recently put out in the tube. These ads touch on the history of the tube stations and many things that have taken place in them. Check out this online design magazine for more details. There is also the government transportation site which I highly recommend as you can read the background/story and then answer either "tube or false." It's a bit of a fun game and you learn more history behind the tube. I was dying to check out the website the first time I saw these ads because it gives you the hypothetical story but not the true answers. I love history and intrigue. It makes me wish Canada had older history then it does. I really appreciate being in a city where you can trace things back so far!
